Traveling to Italy

Food is the ingredient that binds us together, no matter where we are.

Yesterday on our social media channels we asked you about your favorite cuisine and if you could have ONE meal, right now, what and where would it be? The response was vast and so full of love for food from cultures around the world. It was very clear that we all are bound together by food, no matter where we reside.

While right now getting that favorite meal from around the world is not as easy as it once was, we are able to bring many of those dishes into our homes, and have a Dream Now, Travel Later dinner in honor of those cultures and places that we are longing to visit.

Today, Christen is going to take you on an Italian adventure that will help you bring pasta right into your kitchen and home, all that will be missing are the views that come with your pasta dishes in Italy.

Come along, let’s hear about her Italian pasta making adventure!

From Christen:

While we can't venture out and explore the world right now, I can sure help bring our world to you!

Let's start with my Italian adventure! Italy is truly one of my most favorite countries to visit! I've said many times that I'd go back year after year, and never grow tired or bored of this beautiful destination.

When talking about how much I love Italy and what my most favorite parts are, I know you are probably are expecting me to say "Wine!" And yes, while the wine is amazing, and so much a part of the Italian experience, I'm going to go with a different favorite thing.

The pasta! Y'all the pasta is the BEST. Since our last visit to Italy in the fall of 2018, we have not bought store made pasta one time. My husband Rob makes our pasta at home, just like we learned in our pasta making class at Fattoria Poggio Alloro, in Tuscany!

We not only make pasta on a weekly basis, but sometimes, when we aren't in a global pandemic and practicing social distancing, we also host pasta making parties or as we like to call it "Italian Night" in our home for our friends! But since we are unable to host “Italian Nights” right now, we want to virtually invite you to join us for pasta!

Let's be real for a minute, you are probably doing a little more cooking these days than normal. So why not bring another part of the world into your home through your kitchen?

You'll learn something new, and it can even be a great family project! The kids will love making pasta with you, and it will also be a great opportunity to talk about Italy, what a great history lesson combined with cooking class.

Now, for the real reason you are here, let’s get busy making pasta.

All you need are eggs, all purpose flour, semolina flour, a rolling pin, and few kitchen utensils! Once you’ve gathered those essential items, click here for step by step instructions from Rob. He will walk you through making the perfect pasta for your very own “Italian Night.”

Now that I have walked you through making one of my favorite meals, from one of my favorite places, I am feeling very nostalgic and remembering the moments of being in Italy with some of my greatest friends. It was a vacation of a lifetime, one that I will not soon forget, partly because of that one ingredient, the food.

We will be traveling again soon, and I can’t wait.

But until then, I hope you are able to enjoy some pasta, and are finding ways to bring the world to your kitchen. Stay tuned, we will have more soon!

Ciao!

-Christen
