Bringing Disney to Your Kitchen!

Let’s face it: being stuck at home for a long time can get boring, even if you’re a homebody. And being stuck at home with your kids is even more challenging because you have to keep them engaged and have fun all the while remaining indoors. We at Classic Travel Connection understand that ache to get out there and explore, but when staying home is best we have a few ideas to help keep you and your family happy, and hopefully entertained for at least a little while.

As we’ve mentioned time and time again, we love Disney! And we know the magical effect Disney has when it comes to what movies we watch, what we do, and even where we travel. Disney has even inspired delicious cuisines both within the parks and in our own kitchens. Pulling recipes from our favorite food bloggers and Disney fans, here are a few Disney-inspired recipes that you can make with your kids. Hopefully these yummy treats are able to tide you over until your next Disney vacation!

Frozen II.jpg

Frozen Popcorn (The Movie)

This recipe is quick, easy, and may make your kids belt out “Let It Go” (proceed with caution). You can stick with the traditional colors of ice blue and white sprinkles or you can go crazy with whatever you or your kids’ hearts desire. And, now that the sequel is on Disney+, you have the perfect movie snack to go along with watching Frozen II. It may be too warm to build a snowman, but at least you can make “snow” popcorn!

Sleeping Beauty.jpg

Sleeping Beauty Smoothie Bowl

Take your taste buds to the french countryside with this refreshing and fun recipe inspired by the iconic fairy godmother scene in Sleeping Beauty. Pink dress or blue dress? Pink smoothie or blue smoothie? You can have both! Your kids will enjoy making this yummy treat as much as they will enjoy eating it. Get the recipe here.

Merida.jpg

Brave Iced Rolls

This recipe has a few more steps and prep, but these medieval sweet rolls will transport you to the mysterious Scottish Highlands alongside Merida. Since you’re already at home, why not spend more time mixing and baking? This is a recipe the entire family can enjoy doing and the end results are delicious!

Little Mermaid.jpg

Little Mermaid Parfait

Ready for a fin-tastic treat? Crafting and cooking combine on this recipe inspired by the classic tale, The Little Mermaid. Your kids get to enjoy decorating mason jars and get to make some funky colored pudding that is both fun and delicious. Even if you can’t go to the beach, you can make this tasty parfait part of your world. :)

Aunt Cass.jpg

Aunt Cass’ Wings from Big Hero 6

Wiiiings! We can’t exactly visit Baymax and Hero in San Fransokyo, but we can make a fun dinner or lunch inspired by the spicy wings Aunt Cass makes in the movie. This recipe is great for a fun and quick meal that can easily be adjusted to your preferred spice level. Whether you prefer mild wings or, in the words of Aunt Cass, “have your face melted” heat, this meal is sure to become a family favorite. Give them a try, find the recipe here.

Nemo and Dory.jpg

Finding Dory Marshmallow Pops

Dive right in with these creative and easy treats inspired by our favorite, forgetful Blue Tang. Your kids will enjoy decorating their own little ocean and will be begging to watch Finding Dory afterwards. What’s fun about this recipe is the unique and creative ways you can make them you own. You can stick with marshmallows, or you can opt for cake pops or rice krispie treats. Just grab this fun recipe and do whatever your heart desires!

Kronk & Spinach Puffs.jpg

Kronk’s Spinach Puffs

We all remember that scene from The Emperor's New Groove when Kronk brings out that steaming platter of spinach puffs. This recipe may be very on-the-nose, but is still fun to make and delicious. It is also a healthy alternative to all the sweets we’ve recommended already! Give it a try, the kiddos just might like these spinach puffs!

We at Classic Travel Connection hope this gave you a few magical (and delicious) ideas on how to entertain your family at home. This time at home is temporary and won’t last forever. You may as well enjoy it.
